About AD Leathers

Cliff, a rider since 1967, successfully pursued a racing career for ten years. His achievements include two WERA Formula 2 roadracing national championships, MARRC Rookie of the Year, MARRC Pro Rider of the Year, race school instructor and AMA National number holder. Cliff studied pattern making and tailoring with Lou Snedden of Lou's Leathers after retirement from active racing, and began Advanced Design Leathers in 1991.

Page, riding since the mid-seventies, has been involved with racing as a licensed racer, a race official (she signed Cliff up for his first race!), and, as a certified Emergency Medical Technician, worked in track safety for many years. Page has over thirty years in design and sewing experience.

Our Story

We are not the biggest custom leather maker by a longshot, but our experience, service and quality has been sought by some of the giants. As race people ourselves, with over fifty years of combined riding and racing experience, we know and understand the importance of quality leathers. This is a commitment we take seriously and we strive to provide the best product at the lowest price possible.

When we first began, we devoted ourselves to roadracing and snowmobiling, and produced suits for some of the nation's top Superbike riders and teams. Some of them include Daytona 200 winner David Sadowski, multi-time multi-class AMA champion Randy Renfrow, Superbike stars Mike Smith, Tom Kipp and Mike Hale, Commonwealth Racing and others. More recently our focus has shifted to drag racing, and we have been pleased to provide suits for such notables as Pro Fuel champion Tony Mattioli, American fuel legend Bill Furr, and NHRA Pro-Stock riders Ron and Brian Ayers. These riders have the experience and knowledge to recognize and appreciate superior quality and we are proud they chose Advanced Design.

We service what we sell, and offer a complete line of cleaning, conditioning, and protective products and services. We can clean and repair your suit to put a little life back into it. Since leathers for any use are a big investment, proper care and maintenance is just as important as changing your bike's oil.

Thank you for visiting our site and for taking the time to learn a little about us and what we do. We aren't a huge, faceless corporation like so many others. We are a mom and pop shop who care about what we do and our customers. We are very glad to speak with you directly about any questions you have, and hope you'll choose Advanced Design for all of your leathers. Feel free to call us at 207-474-0801 to answer your questions. Since the same two people who answer the phone also make your suit or jacket, you never get the run around and can be directly in touch with us as your suit is built.
